Today was Day 1 of 2 for the second FMEL here in Chicago. I was privileged to participate in moderating a panel discussion on the state of Latin Electronic Music at Efebos Café in Pilsen, which was broadcast live by Radioglobal, and it was a particular treat to experience Carlos Icaza and AAM make music live. Icaza participated on the panel, as well as Enrique Jimenez, the founder of Static Discos, and Ricardo Guzmán, the founder of the Interface Festival. Some of the music from the incredibly varied artists that Static represents, includes the Spanish duo Cielo (Líneas Rectas) and the Tijuana-based Latinsizer (Libélula). Day 2 continues tomorrow with a 6-hour showcase! Hoy fue el primer día de 2 del segundo FMEL aquí en Chicago. Tuve el privilegio de moderar un simposio sobre el estado actual de la música electrónica latina en Efebos, el cual fue trasmitido en vivo por Radioglobal, y además me encantó poder experimentar a Carlos Icaza y AAM crear música en vivo. Icaza participató en el simposio, al igual que Enrique Jimenez, el fundador de Static Discos y Ricardo Guzmán, fundador del festival Interface.
