The day the music died, it took 17 yr old Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes. I´m really liking this New Weird Latin American tribute to Ritchie Valens, who would have turned 70 last Friday. (check  this slightly psychedelic leisurely but punk version of La Bamba by Joe Volume!) It all makes me realize how much we as Latinos have participated in the cultural and artistic movements of  this land –  ¡viva el Rock and Roll!

Junto con Buddy Holly, en 1959 falleció en el avionazo a los 17 años de edad Ricardo Esteban Valenzuela Reyes, también conocido como Ritchie Valens, quien transformó La Bamba, canción jarocha por excelencia a puro rocanrol. Muestra adicional del importante aporte de los latinos a los movimientos artístico y culturales del país. Me encanta este tributo de New Weird Latin American, versiones completamente originales de las canciones de Valens, incluyendo la famosa Bamba, en versión de Joe Volume.
