The immensely talented Pedrito Martinez has been on our radar for a while, ever since the days when he was the percussionist for the trail-blazing Yerba Buena. Now leading his own group, Pedrito continues the tradition of his famous Havana barrio and takes the intensely percussive Cuban rumba to places it may never have been before. We were delighted to have a chance to chat with Pedrito when he last visited us for World Music Fest 2012.
