Un concierto maravilloso en The Morse anoche, cruzando musicalmente lo que es la ruta de los gitanos con música de Kalyan Pathak y Jazzmata, Gypsy Rhythm Project y Las Guitarras de España. Le agradecemos a nuestro amigo David Chavez sus labores trabajando con The Morse para presentar excelentes funciones de música del mundo. Difícil decidir cuál fue la parte que más nos gustó del programa – el final en el que bailaron una danzante de Bharat Natyam de la India, acompañada con un bailarín rumano y una bailaora flamenca fue muy lindo. También nos encantó presenciar un increible artista del cimbalón del grupo the Gypsy Rhythm Project. A wonderful concert at The Morse last night, musically traversing the Gypsy Trail with music by Kalyan Pathak and Jazzmata, the Gypsy Rhythm Project and Las Guitarras de España. We are delighted that our friend David Chavez is working with The Morse to program all sorts of world music. Hard to say what was our favorite part of the program – the finale which featured a Bharat Natyam dancer from Indian, a Romanian dancer and a flamenco dancer was particularly lovely. However, we were especially delighted to experience the amazing Romani cymbalon player from the Gypsy Rhythm Project. So here´s a taste of the music of another cimbalon player, descendant of Hungarian gypsy traditions: Kalman Balogh´s Calusul Dance. In case you´re wondering what´s the connection to the Latin musical universe… this is the kind of music that may have been historically the link between India´s music and the flamenco music of Spain: here´s a sampling of the dances along the Gypsy Trail by the israeli Miriam Peretz.
