I´m going to be ready! So, continuing the planning for what promises to be an amazing SX! There will be nearly fifteen groups from Colombia showcasing – so I´ll have to do the Colombia video playlist in two parts. And I´m looking forward to all of them! Doctor Krapula, a veteran Latin Alternative rock band from Bogotá, and their joyous mash-up of rock,  merengue, salsa, reggae, ska, punk and other popular Latin American rhythms – what they call “popular mestizo music” is sure to keep us all moving. Diva Gash, an electrónica duo from Bogota, mixes in sounds from the 70’s & 80’s ranging from funk to disco and from retro to contemporary rock, with a little hip hop thrown in. Hotel Mama, also from Bogotá, is wonderful evidence of the new urban rock movement in Colombia. Moving away from Bogotá, founded in Barranquilla, 69 Nombres, veteran musicians from the nineties, started off influenced by grunge but thereafter name The Beatles as their main influence. I love all the memories that  De Juepuchas (pronunciation key for English speakers: day-who-aye-POO-chuz) evokes, in the exploration the soundtrack of a generation raised in Colombia in the 80´s and 90s. Profetas, melodic hip hop duo, also mentioned on MTV Iggy as one of 10 international bands to watch for at SX! Which Latin bands are you looking forward to at SXSW?

Pienso estar listísima para SXSW. En cuanto a nuestra música – casi quince agrupaciones de Colombia – por lo tanto, dividimos el grupo de videos en dos partes.  Viene Doctor Krapula, veteranos dentro del género latino alternativo, de Bogotá y su música popular mestiza que mezcla rock, merengue, salsa, reggae, ska, punk y otros ritmos populares de nuestras tierras. Diva Gash, duo electrónico de Bogota, mezcla sonidos de las décadas de los setentas y los ochentas, funk con disco, rock retro y contemporáneo, con un toque de hip hop.Hotel Mama, excelentes ejemplares del movimiento de nuevo rock urbano de Colombia. La agrupación de 69 Nombres nació en Barranquilla, al principio con mucho efecto del grunge pero hicieron transición a una influencia del pop Británico de los Beatles. Me encanta todo lo que evocan los sonidos de  De Juepuchas y por si fuera poco (y aún falta la otra mitad de los grupos) gozaremos del hip hop melódico del duo Profetas, quienes también fueron mencionados en  MTV Iggy como uno de los 10 grupos internacionales que no nos deberemos perder en SXSW!
