Latin boogaloo is here! This week’s #BeatLatino is a one-hour ode to that classic, most tasty and totally sabroso genre that was born in the mash-up of cha cha, boleros, Cuban son, R & B, Latin soul in the late 60’s in New York City. It created a dance fever that spread to the Americas and Africa, and marked the first era of musical understanding between Puerto Rican, African American and Cuban kids in New York City. We include classic tunes by stellar musicians that participated in Lincoln Center Out of Doors Boogaloo celebration which coincided with the premiere of a documentary on Latin Boogaloo titled, “I like it like that”. These included the living legendes Pete Rodriguez and Joe Bataan! Cool, rico, chévere, sabroso LATIN BOOGALOO is here!
